Looking to pass along my cross stitch graphs/books to a good home or site that will make them available to anyone looking for older graphs or books. Have friends doing the same and our stashes are large. Any ideas??

Looking for a companion counted cross stitch pattern from Sunset. I have Sitting Pretty, No. 985, designed by Donna Kooler, from 1982. There was another pattern with the same little girl, but she was standing and had her back to the viewer. I've searched and searched and can't find it and don't know the name of it. Does anyone have any ideas on this? Thank you.

Hello -- Have searched the internet to no avail, and hoping to find direction. Need to find a Conversion Chart for Needlepoint Wool into DMC embroidery (cross-stitch) floss colours. Plenty of wool-to-wool and floss-to-floss charts, but cannot find any that convert wool colours to floss colours (so that a needlepoint chart can readily be used for cross-stitch, or vice versa). Very much appreciate any help or direction.. Thank You!

KAREN IN OTTAWA: There's a "Deck The Stalls" Christmas stocking available right now on eBay but it's a little on the pricey side: $49.99 (with free shipping worldwide). I've never purchased from this seller before but their feedback is excellent so it should be safe to buy from them. Just put the following item # into the eBay search engine and it'll take you right there to it: 302220074053. Good luck! :-)

Hi GWEN! THANKS so much for helping! I am 'with the understanding' that the item(s) -- yes, I have seen them as well -- being sold on eBay are almost all computer generated COPIES of a print that must have been copied and sold ... Some might be interested in that, but nope, not me ... I will get an original (someone bought THE KIT off an eBay seller in 2015! LUCKY LUCKY!) and I will hold out and wait for the REAL THING ... I might be waiting for a long time or forever but I have LOTS of other stitching to keep me busy for YEARS -- LOL -- in the meantime! Thanks again for helping! HAPPY STITCHING! nfm :)

Hi Stitchers! Needing help finding a chart of a mouse all dressed up for Christmas-time sitting on top of her mailbox house which is decorated for the holidays ... it is darling picture and I would love to stitch it! Only solid 'lead/information' received from another 'searching for' group on the internet is that YARNTREE was printed on the chart or kit photo somewhere and that photo had the word 'ORIGINAL' on it ... looking to borrow and/or buy this chart (or kit!) ... anyone have it available? Please -- only reasonable prices will be considered, no ''outlandish'' prices due to the extreme popularity of this chart ... PLEASE and THANKS in advance for ANY help/information you can supply! I am looking for Autumn Bouquet of Sunflowers by Lanarte. This kit has been discontinued a long time ago. There are 8 sunfllowers and several purplish/pink asters and greenery in a white, squarish vase, and a cob of corn and onions (I think!) in the foreground. The number of the kit is L34831, but I would be very happy to get a gently used pattern from this kit. My dad passed away this past spring, and he loved sunflowers, and my mom likes asters, so I would like to get this stitched for my mom.

Can't figure out how to delete my earlier post but added stocking description I'm looking to get a stocking that matches my daughter's (a gift from our aunt a few years ago). I've attached a photo - my aunt looked at the store in Cape May, NJ where she purchased it but they didn't haven't it anymore. I was hoping you might know any retailers who have it in stock? The stocking has a yellow cuff for the name, with a red star & a string or lights/ornaments. The fabric is sort of squares of blue, red, green & purple with pictures of trees, candles, bells & stockings. The details are gold. Hopefully all that makes sense!

Jacobie - usually they say to stitch over two fabric threads with 2 strands of floss - meaning that they are referring to a linen or linenlike fabric - check what the model was stitched on or the recommended fabric. That will tell you alot. Not always can you substitute a 14ct for a 28ct but most of the time you can. If you have any other Q? please let me know.

Sharon - You will probably not be able to get a match unless you take the thread and go to a LNS and physically match it. Dimensions has gone thru alot of changes in the last 10 years. They have closed their PA plant and moved everything overseas. Herschners is taking care of customer service but probably if it is not in their computer, no one will know anything. Threads are company coded so that is never a help. Sorry for the news, good luck on your quest.

Hi, this might be a bit of a novice question, I've been doing counted cross stitch for years but I've never had one where the design is printed directly onto the fabric before with grids and everything. Once it is complete how do I get rid of the grid lines and other colours printed on the fabric? I bought the kit from eBay so the packaging is in Chinese and I wasn't able to translate it on my phone. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Hannah

Linda, I usually just hold it in my hands, but they do make a frame to hold perforated paper and by the way it tightens, it looks like you could use it for plastic canvas too. How do you work on perforated plastic in cross stitch? I tried using a hoop but it's too stiff. I also tried using scroll rods but it was hard to center the plastic on the rods. Currently I am holding the plastic but it is not laying flat and is buckling in the middle when I am stitching. Also, I am having some problems seeing my work. What do you use to help you do close up cross stitching in the way of lighting, magnifiers, reading glasses, etc? Thank you for any help you can give me.

This is a clarification of my previous message. The image that was printed is about 3-1/4" wide by 9" in height. When doing cross stitch on 14ct. perforated plastic, how many stitches high should the lettering be? I've done cross stitch before but never worked on perforated plastic. I would like to cut out the pattern after I'm done stitching it as plastic will not ravel.

Hello everyone, I am in complete shock tonight as I went online to purchase both "International Bears" I and II from The Vermillion Stitchery and discover that Donna Giampa passed at the end of May. I purchased her "Meaning Of Friendship" last year and have just completed it. Such a fine and very talented lady. Her designs are such a pleasure to stitch. I do not have Facebook etc so had no idea she had been unwell. A very great loss indeed. Can anyone please help me with the International bears? I am longing to stitch them. Many Thanks, Shirley.

Ruth, i use painter's tape to attach my fabric to my scroll rods. tape residue is not a problem but i do generally stitch on aida, so it's easy to add an extra half inch top and bottom just in case. HTH

Hi Again. First I want to thank Gwen for her reply to my previous email. I posted my problem of being short 1 inch around the fabric I had already cut. The calculation was I need a piece 26w x 21h with a 3 inch border using 18 count fabric. This morning I finally figured out what the problem was. I had purchased from Michaels Aida Silver Standard which came in a sealed package. The package says Aida 18 count 30" x 36". The actual count of the fabric in the package is 16 count. Be advised if you are purchasing packaged precut fabric like Aida, etc please check the count before leaving the store. Have a great stitching day. Tina

Tina -- I did the calculations too and you did cut your fabric the correct size. I probably would have started my gridding from the left 3" down from the top and 3" in from the side. Math is definitely NOT my strong suite, but it must be somehow related to the fact that there are 10 stitches between each gridding line, not 18.

Hi, I am trying to grid my fabric to start a new chart. The stitches are 360W x 263H with a 3" extra on all sides using 18 count to an inch. Using the calculator it says my fabric should be 26 x 21. I measured my fabric and cut it out. Today I started to gird starting from the middle of the fabric and working to the left I ended with a 2" border instead of 3. What did I do wrong? Thank you.

Ruth, I meant to add that you can also staple some kind of stiff webbing to the rods and then baste the fabric to the webbing, but I prefer the Velcro solution.
BetsyWetsy 70.209.97.51
USA - Sunday, August 23, 2015 at 06:38:09 (CDT)

Ruth, put "no baste system" in the search box here on Yarntree and see the strips to buy that you can put on your rods. You need to buy both halves, as Velcro has two sides. (One is the loops and the other is the hooks.) You can also buy stick-on Velcro strips from Joann's or Michael's and use those. Cut them the long way in half so they aren't as wide.

Looking for patterns used in a round robin depicting events from years 2000 to 2001 to make a 10 year specially designed quilt square for events for those years. You can contact me at my email if you or know of anyone else who was in the robin. and I can send you a pic of the finished quilt. Tiffany Silver was the person who ran the round robin. There were a few different groups of 12 but alot dropped out along the way. So many of the squares I stitched myself for my quilt.

Donna, 22 ct Hardanger is really just like Aida. It is cotton where Aida (usually cotton) can be made of other fibers too. You should have no problem with it. It is called Hardanger because it came from that area of Norway. Most people start on it when learning Hardanger embroidery.
