Cross stitch pattern from Hands Across the Sea Sampler. Reproduction of a piece finished in 1844 by Martha James. The top of the design is a set of seven large and intricate flowers and plants. The center includes the text to the hymn "Fountain of blessing, ever bless'd." The bottom depicts a simple scene with impressively detailed characters. A woman carrying a basket of flowers on her head holds hands with a young boy in a fine red suit. They are flanked by two buildings (a chapel and a windmill), then stags and willow trees. The design is finished with a delicate honeysuckle border. Stitch count 383 w x 329h.
