Cross stitch pattern from Hands Across the Sea Samplers. This is a reproduction of a reversible band sampler stitched in 1656 by someone with the initials MH. This piece is currently in the private collection of Nicola Parkman, one of the artists at Hands Across the Sea Samplers. It is a fascinating piece of needlework history, and impressive artistry. This sampler is reversibly stitched over three threads with running stitch, double running stitch, back stitch, satin stitch, Montenegrin stitch, diamond upright stitch, diagonal cross stitch, and two variations of reversible cross stitch.
