Frances Pink 1785

Cross stitch pattern by Victorian Rose Needlearts. Frances (Dearsley) Pink stitched her striking Adam & Eve sampler in the year 1785. As is traditional with Adam & Eve samplers, Frances has placed Adam to the left & Eve to the right with the serpent facing Eve, as it was she who first succumbed to temptation (Genesis 3). The depiction here shows a paler fruit for the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil instead of the apple tree with red fruit often exemplified. Stitch count 262w x 250h.
