Fireside & Fairytale

Sampler designer Cairine MacGillivray created ‘fireside & fairytale’ in 2017 for the ethereal and material in life. Judged top craftsperson at the Royal Dublin Society, Ireland, in 1996, she learned to weave fine linen. Still in love with linen she creates a new take on traditional sampler designs, embroidering this fabric with a variety of stitches - but mainly cross stitch. She is inspired by both Scottish and English samplers, and enjoys sharing the rich artistic heritage of Arts and Crafts of the British Isles. She lives in Edinburgh with her roses.
